Corporate Responsibility

Our track record of social responsibility is one of the reasons we've repeatedly been named the Most Admired Company in America in our category in Fortune magazine's prestigious annual survey of corporate reputation.

Sustainability is a priority everywhere we operate in the world. Quite simply, we believe growth and environmental protection can go hand in hand. In kitchen and bath cabinetry, our largest product line, we adhere to the industry's highest standards through the KCMA Environmental Stewardship Program by using environmentally responsible materials and manufacturing processes. Across product lines, we're developing and using water-based finishes that reduce emissions of solvents. We're conserving water by reducing its use in several manufacturing processes. Our golf brands' Resource Conservation Initiative is focused on reducing waste and re-using materials whenever possible. We're pursuing cogeneration technology to reduce the use of energy at our distillery in Spain - an industry first - and we've implemented fish-friendly farming and ecological restoration programs at our vineyards. In addition, our window, door and millwork brands offer consumers advanced-technology substitutes for wood, as well as Energy Star-designated products across our window and door lines that help homeowners reduce energy consumption.

We see the 24,000 men and women who work in every corner of our operations worldwide as partners in the success we all share. Through our global employment policies and practices, we've created workplaces that protect health and promote the highest standards of safety, and we've established high expectations for our suppliers.

We take very seriously the responsibility of owning one of the world's largest spirits and wine companies. Our Spirits & Wine business is committed to the highest standards of responsible marketing through the Beam Global Spirits and Wine Marketing Code of Practice. This business sends a powerful message through the continued expansion of consumer education initiatives, led by its Drink Smart program: if you're of legal purchase age and you choose to drink, do so in moderation and never drive drunk; and if you're below the legal purchase age, don't drink at all.

Giving back to our communities isn't just about being a responsible employer - it's a passion shared by people across Fortune Brands. The people of Fortune Brands make a big impact in the communities where we operate - building houses for Habitat for Humanity, volunteering in inner-city schools, funding programs to combat underage alcohol consumption, awarding financial aid to future industry leaders through the Acushnet PGA Apprentice Scholarship Program, supporting causes like Junior Achievement, the United Way, Homes for Our Troops, the Nature Conservancy, the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, the Boys and Girls Clubs, the Sunshine Through Golf Foundation, and so much more.
